Day 76 No one hurt - Walking

Want to skip the history? - Scroll down to the black text.

... August 2012, Fire, Part II
Luckily we had coverage on our cell phone. We called and brought a friend who lives next door to us in the forest.

The "neighbour word" in the forest means that you live within a radius of 1 kilometre. Not within sight or hearing distance, but close.

The neighbour came after fifteen minutes. He brought the fire extinguisher, (witch I should have had earlier). We put out the lase flames in the wreck and the he drove us back to the cottage. There was a tumbling night. The most important thing was that we did not hurt ourselfs. There was also no wolves when we waiting in the night by the fire.

The morning after we went and looked what was left of Polaris. I can say, it was not much. It was just to go with the scrap to the dump. When I look through all the papers later, I see that I forgot to take out insurance.

Fucking hell 25.000 Euro up in smoke. Let's not talk about it any more.

I had a good day at work. My legs are a little more alert. In the afternoon me and my wife went to a big shopping mall. We walked around for a good time looking for a bank office. We did not find it. When i got back to the car, we find the office with the GPS. Problem was solved.

The afternoons walk must have been almost 500 meters. WITHOUT CRUTCH, but with support.

Later at night I can feel that my legs and back are sore. To much in one day, but it worked.

Day 70-75 Fire - Quick brain

Want to skip the history? - Scroll down to the black text.

... August 2012, The Fire Part I
Strengthened by the wolf experience a few days earlier, we decided to go back on the wolf hunting again. I had fuelled up the machine with twenty litres of expensive petrol. We set out into the night. After a few miles we saw a moose in the forest. The elk is not the smartest animal in the world. The calf just stood and looked into the lights without making any effort to go away. Not even when I honk the horn moose moved. When I start driving towards the moose, he turns around. I stepped on the throttle a bit, then he jumps into the woods.

We came up to the lake where we saw the wolves the other night. There was no life there today. This time I stopped and pee there! My wife giggled hysterically and joked about the wolf.
We continued a few kilometres ahead in the night. I got a feeling that something was behind us. It was a mystical glow. I turned my head and saw one meter flames beat up behind the Polaris. I was riding at 50 km/h. The machine made no sign that something was strange. The lights lit, and the engine sounded as usual.

I stopped and yelled at my wife to jump out. By now she had also seen the flames. It did not go so fast for me to get unbuckle and get up out of the sports seat. MS makes me not so fast any more. I felt the heat from the fire in my neck. When I took myself out, the flames were there we sat a few moments earlier was three feet high.

After a few minutes the whole Polaris flash over. There was such a heat that we had to back away 20-30 meters. The flames were 20 feet high when gasoline, aluminium and tires burned. I started to get worried about wildfire. When aluminium burns it becomes a huge shower of sparks. Salvation was that it rained a little earlier in the evening.

In 15 minutes had everything that could burn burned. Even the wheels were gone.

There was just only one problem. How should I get home. I had no crutches with me, and it was eight kilometres to walk home. I know for sure that the wolfs are out there somewhere... The night was really dark.

I could barely see the hand in the dark.

Today, +26 days after stem cell treatment.

I have been at my country house a couple of days. I had big problems with the ISP. I could not get contact with the base station. Therefore no internet and no updates of the blog. Now I am back in Stockholm again. I have just swapped the ISP.  Now I am on-line again. :)

My cherry tree
How ever, I have noticed some small changes last week. I did not think there were any problems with the brain capacity of a month ago. I can now say that I am faster in my head now and I do not get mentally tired after a full day. I also notice that the brain is faster than the feet and hands.

It is frustrating when the body does not keep up. I guess I've gotten used to it all has been slower for a long time. Now I only use the crutch longer distances. Sometimes it can be nice to have someone to support in.

I can keep going all day without taking a nap. I notice in particular that I'm more alert in the evening.

Later this week I will do the MRI and meet the research physician. I feel very good, and can not say if I got a sharp transplant or if there is a combination of other factors.

I feel good anyway.

Day 68 Wolf - Good day

Want to skip the history? - Scroll down to the black text.

... July 2012, the Wolf
One summer night, I took my wife and the Polaris RZR UTV and went into the woods. It does not get really dark at night. Moreover, the moon was almost full. As I wrote earlier the Polaris were fully equipped. When I lit the main beam a so called LED ramp on the roof lit the dark 500 feet above the machine. It was a cold light, but bright as the day.

We drive slowly on a forest road in search of wildlife. After about 30 minutes drive, I see something 50 meters in front of us in the grass. No it can not be a moose, the animal is not big enough ... Could it be deer ... Then I see the reflection in the eyes, and the whole animal, it's a wolf. No, not one wolf, they are were three. I stopped and let the wolves cross the road, 30 meters in front of us. My wife just shook and whispered quiet ... run ... fast ...

I must reluctantly admit that my pulse rise a little it too. The wolf is a powerful and mythical animals. Getting to see wolves in the wild are not common at all. We were sitting in a open vehicle. Maybe I could drive away from the wolves if they wanted to attack. But I said to my wife. No sudden movements just sit still even if the wolves come against us.

I have previously been on safari in Africa. I tried to be as calm as my guide told me to be when the lions followed the car. The difference from then was to guide in Africa had a big gun in the car. I did not.

In this situation, they should not judge us as a danger I told my wife. Indeed, they went at a slow pace up in the woods on the other side of the road. They had probably just been down to the lake on the other side of the road for drinking water in the cover of darkness.

We went a few hundred yards down the road when I stopped the UTV. I have to pee now.

My wife screamed, DRIVE NOW FOR HELL!! I don´t give a shit if yo wet your pains. I wash!

It has been another good day. I've been at the office and worked this morning. The Positive signals I felt the last days remains. I try to walk as much as I could without the crutch.

Day 67 Madonna - Back home

Want to skip the history? - Scroll down to the black text.

... August 2012, Madonna in Gothenburg
Madonna is an old favourite artist. I have previously been to one of her concerts at Ullevi in Gothenburg. When she was here, once again, it was obvious to go to the concert. Last time we stood on the field in the rain. This time we had space in the gallery, under a roof. It was probably 100 steps to get to our seats. Absolutely not wheelchair friendly. I avoided drinking anything to avoid going down to the toilet.

I was terribly disappointed in the concert. She went up on stage nearly three hours after the scheduled time. Poor respect for her audience. I was so pissed that we left the concert at half-time. Besides pissed, I also had to piss. We went down town and drank a glass of wine instead. Much nicer than at Ullevi.

After the disappointment in Gothenburg, we went up to the Värmland. We got a few days there without children. We continued with the renovation of the room in the cottage. I sit on the chair and the supervisor and my wife works.

Equality!

We went to dinner one day at my brothers place. For some reason, all the mosquitoes on the hunt together. It was a perfect summer mosquitoes last year. Cool, damp and rain every other day.

There were so many mosquitoes that it was not enough with tight clothes. We took to each pesticide was. Spray, jungle oil and mosquito coils. To get mosquito coils to burn well, my brother used the gas burner.

I can still smell the smell. The mosquitoes kept their distance and we sat and coughed. Then ask the most people, why did you not go into the house? In Sweden there is no question about it. Here you stay outside in the summer, regardless of the weather or mosquitoes.

Today, +19 days after stem cell treatment.

This morning I woke up all-right spirited. We went back to Stockholm at midday. It is a journey of 350 kilometres. I have on previous trips have become very tired after a few hours of driving. So tired that I had to stop the car and rest for a while.

Today's driving was not a problem. I was not tired. We continued with activities at home and watched a film on TV. I'm was not tired even then.

It might be a good day, but I do not think so. Something good happens!
